Personal Profile

Describe your personality and character: Enthusiastic, friendly, easy going, outgoing but daydreamy at times, determined, good listener, caring and responsible.

How do you think others would describe you? People always describe me as a “nice” person so hopefully that is a good thing.

What would you say is your strongest personal trait and why? My enthusiasm for people and projects I care about. I love to get really involved, motivate other people and put in 100% towards whatever I choose to do.

What is your favorite sport? Horseback riding-it can be relaxing or really difficult depending on what you are trying to do. I also like to watch gymnastics and figure skating.
Describe your own athletic ability/skills: I enjoy badminton and swimming recreationally, but prefer dancing and more arts based activities.

What is your favorite type of music? I like all types of music, depending on my current mood. Mainly I enjoy pop, rock, alternative, and classical music. I used to dislike country music, but even that is growing on me since moving to Canada.
Why is this your favorite type of music? I really like pop music as it is great to dance to, but rock tends to be better for live music concerts, such as Glastonbury in the U.K.
Describe your own musical abilities/skills: I was in the school choir for many years and continued with the musical theatre society at university through singing, dancing, and choreography.

Describe any other special talents, skills, hobbies or interests you may have: I have recently started knitting and I enjoy cooking.

What is your favorite book? Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell
Why? It is a very detailed story that takes place in an interesting period of history. I absolutely adore the anti-heroine Scarlett who is so selfish in her survival. It is so different from most books.

What is your favorite movie? Sabrina (with Audrey Hepburn) and Overboard-a tie.
Why? I love my romances I’m afraid. One is an absolute classic and the other I just find entertaining.
Describe your own artistic abilities/skills: I took art at school and thoroughly enjoyed sketching and painting. I really welcomed the chance to continue this through taking an interior design course. Putting together ideas, concepts, and colours, and watching it all come together is really fun.

Do you speak any foreign languages? French

Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life? Going to Scotland, where my maternal family is from. It is a really beautiful country with amazing heritage, despite the bagpipes.

Have you had any unique educational experiences? Working at the head office for the McLaren Formula One Gran Prix team. I grew up with this sport, as my dad is a big fan.

Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? Telephone counseling with a well-known U.K. children’s charity, I gained a greater awareness of how many children live with abuse. It really opened my eyes and made me want to become more active to support young people.

If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do? I would like to travel the world and learn more about how other people live. I realize that I am very fortunate and have had a comfortable upbringing in comparison to many people in other parts of the world and even in parts of our own. I feel that this would be a valuable educational experience that would be a great motivator in helping others less fortunate and being less selfish.

Philosophies and Thoughts

What is your philosophy on life? Go with the flow.

How did you come to have this philosophy on life? I tend to stress over the details in life that we often have no control over and therefore leave me tense and irritable, which is pointless. This way, you feel so much better and have the same end result. This only woks on small things-I fully believe in seizing control and shaping life’s destiny.

What is your ultimate goal and ambition in life? I have many goals in life and some have altered as I have matured, but my ultimate goal is to be happy and not to regret any of the decisions I have made throughout my life.

How do you plan on achieving this goal? I plan to go with the flow, remain easy going and not worry about the details you can’t control and most of all, to enjoy my life.

Why do you want to be an egg donor? It is something I looked into while at university but chose not pursue as the time was not right for me. My sister-in-law is currently undergoing fertility treatment and watching her struggle to have a family of her own has made me re-examine my decision to become an egg donor. I really want to be able to help people in her position and give them options that they may not naturally have.

What do you think egg donation means to potential recipients? I believe that it can mean the world to potential parents. It is the opportunity for them to have a child of their own in which they can experience the pregnancy and birth themselves.

What are your thoughts on egg donation as a fertility option? I feel that it is a fantastic development within this field as it is another means of allowing couples/individuals to create a loving and much wanted family.
