Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life?
Two years ago my husband and I attempted to move to Perth, Australia. We worked, had an apartment, and actually didn’t have much time for sightseeing. Instead, we had the unique experience of actually living in another country that no vacation could provide.
Have you had any unique educational experiences? I had an amazing AP English teacher my senior year of high school. She was the smartest person I have ever known and had a lot to teach me, including how to let myself be taught. I don’t think that I was quite prepared at the time for someone with so much insight, who was so little fooled by my pretension at the time. She taught me a lot of self-analysis that has served me well in the time since then.
Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? My senior year of high school, I became involved in a women’s she butter collective based in Burkina Faso. I traveled to Harvard University to represent the collective at a cultural survival fair. My involvement inspired me to support girls’ and women’s rights in Africa. I now sponsor a 12 year old AIDS orphan in Kenya.
If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do? I would like to travel abroad to explore the roots of my family. Even though my parents are only first and second generation in this country, we have almost no contact with our family in Europe and New Zealand and have never met most of them. I would spend a year re-forming family bonds all over that world that have been neglected for a generation. |

What is your philosophy on life? Simply put: “Live and let live.”
How did you come to have this philosophy on life? The best thing you can do in life is not try to force your opinion or ideas on others rather, if you live so as to set an example, you’ll find that they are much more likely to come around to your point of view and respect you more for it.
What is your ultimate goal and ambition in life? To have a good career and save enough money to leave the work force early and pursue some of the things I’ve always dreamed of doing-traveling abroad and teaching in a foreign countries. Simply put, my goal is to leave the world better than I found it.
How do you plan on achieving this goal? I’m studying pharmacy so I can have a high-paying career through my mid-thirties, after which I can “retire” and start on the work I really want to do.
Why do you want to be an egg donor? I think that the right to have children is universal. If someone believes they can be a loving parent, then they deserve the opportunity to leave their mark on the next generation, making the world a better place.
What do you think egg donation means to potential recipients? I hope it will be a wish come true!
What are your thoughts on egg donation as a fertility option? It’s a terrific advance of technology that lets people have what they want most in the world.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself that we haven't asked? I'm looking forward to becoming an egg donor! |
