Describe your personality and character: I think I am very outgoing, open to new people and new experiences and willing to help others if it’s in my power.
How do you think others would describe you? I have been told that I’m very kind-hearted, funny, easy to be around, and that I care for others.
What would you say is your strongest personal trait and why? I think my strongest personal trait would have to be my ability to adapt to any situation I’m put in. I love meeting new people and can bring life to any gathering.
What is your favorite sport? Basketball
Describe your own athletic ability/skills: I think I’m a very athletic person. In high school, I ran track and I was a cheerleader. Before having my twins, I would run 4-6 miles every morning.
What is your favorite type of music? My favorite type of music is R&B.
Why is this your favorite type of music? I like R&B, old and new school, because it’s very smooth and easy to relate to. I love old school R&B because when you listen to the lyrics, it tells a story and it puts you in that moment in time. You can experience their joys and pains.
Describe your own musical abilities/skills: Growing up I played the trumpet, clarinet, and saxophone. I’m not the best singer but I can carry a tune. I love to write songs and am hopeful that one day I can hear my song on the radio.
Describe any other special talents, skills, hobbies or interests you may have: I just love being around good people that can motivate me and give off positive energy, and in return, I do the same.
What is your favorite book? The Coolest Winter Ever
Why? This is my favorite book because it tells the story of a young girl trying to make a better life for herself out of nothing. I see this story line in a lot of the young girls’ lives that I work with.
What is your favorite movie? What’s Love Got to Do With It
Why? I love this movie because my favorite actress (Angela Bassett) played the singer I love (Tina Turner) and because the music Tina made is timeless.
Describe your own artistic abilities/skills: I love doing little art projects but I cannot draw a straight line. I love decorating rooms-putting different textures and colors together.
Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life?
No, but I would love to travel to Europe and just tour the different places. There are so many cool areas to visit and sites to see. This has been one of my dreams ever since I was young.
Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? I got the chance to volunteer at a hospital and I love the fact that I had the chance to help people in need. When I was younger, I wanted to be a doctor or and FBI field agent so volunteering opened my eyes to see what it’s like to work at a hospital. I think that experience showed me how God gave these people this wonderful talent to help the sick. I think now in my life I don’t see myself being a doctor but I have so much respect for what they do. Volunteering at a shelter for sexually abused kids validated my reason to work in the criminal justice system so that I could be the voice of those young people who had their voice taken away.
If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do? If I had the funds and resources to engage in any special activity that is important to me, it would have to be working to help young girls who are forced into child sex work. I would work to prosecute all individuals involved in the promotion of and the engaging in sexual acts with these minors. I would work to close down all the brothels and help to reinstate these young ladies into programs which would help with their education and finding respectable jobs and training. There are a lot of girls being trafficked around the world and I would put all my money and energy into stopping that. |
